SPACE: UAVs Control System

The main objective is the development of a perimeter protection system for critical infrastructures against aerial attacks with any type of drones. For this, the use of sensors based on two complementary technologies is proposed: analysis of the radiofrequency (RF) spectrum and optical sensors. The fusion of information from these two detection and location technologies will allow detecting drones of any type, even if they do not have a communications radio link, and the system can be operational 24×7 (day and night, even in bad weather).

The project, which started in 2016 and ends in 2018, has a total budget of € 1,424,269 and its execution is located in Galicia. The SPACE project consortium consists of the following companies

+ TRC is a medium-sized company specialized in Engineering, Infrastructure, Systems Integration, Software Development and professional services for companies and public administrations.

+ICTEL INGENIEROS is an electronic engineering SME specialized in the development of electronic hardware with extensive experience in computer applications for management and control of all types of equipment, as well as systems integration and communications.

+ EGATEL is a large company specialized in the research, development and manufacture of radio frequency and microwave products and systems designed to transport or broadcast television signals. In this way, the consortium formed for the development of this project is formed by two SMEs and a large company with complementary capabilities. To achieve the objectives of the project, and given the high level of R & D required by this development, the three companies will rely on the outsourcing of the GRADIANT technology center, which brings its capacity and experience from two of its technical areas: Communications Digital and Multimodal Information.

The project is subsidized by the CDTI – Center for Industrial Technological Development – through the FEDER-INTERCONECTA 2016 program, it has the support of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and is co-financed with FEDER Funds from the European Union

Sat2Car: Satellite Connected Car

The main objective of the SAT2CAR project is to develop and validate an integral system of services and mobile applications in vehicle through a communications satellite to offer bidirectional on-board applications in “connected cars”.
The project, which started in 2016 and ends in 2018, has a total budget of € 1,726,262 and its execution is mainly located in Galicia. To achieve the project’s objectives, the consortium in charge of carrying out the project’s activities is composed of:
+ A final vehicle manufacturer (OEM), PSA Peugeot Citroën
+ A satellite operator, HISPASAT
+ One telecommunications equipment manufacturer, EGATEL, leader of the consortium.
+ An ICT service provider, ALTIA
+ A technological SME, QUOBIS

In addition, the subcontracted research organizations are two technological centers, CTAG – Automotive Technology Center of Galicia and GRADIANT – Technological Center for Telecommunication of Galicia, and a university, University of VIGO, which promote and support R & D activities of the industry The multisectorial nature of the project is complemented by its territorial diversity since, although the consortium is mainly formed by Galician entities, Hispasat participates through its center located in the Canary Islands The project is subsidized by the CDTI – Center for Industrial Technological Development – through the FEDER-INTERCONECTA 2016 program, it has the support of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, and is co-financed with FEDER Funds from the European Union.

TRANSLIGHT:

TRANSLIGHT is a research project aimed at developing inks applied through digital technologies (inkjet and LIFT) and electronic products in the sectors of component assembly and automotive. The project consists of five companies:

TORRECID acts as coordinator and its role is the development of inks for digital inkjet (inkjet) and LIFT printing technologies. On the other hand, TRANSLIGHT is also made up of two companies with a long tradition in the design and assembly of electronic components, ELECTRÓNICA FALCÓN and EGATEL, which wish to overcome the current barriers of surface mounting technology. And finally, two companies from the automotive sector, Advanced Automotive Anntenas (A3) and MAIER, which intend to investigate the integration of electronics directly in their products, taking advantage of the digital manufacturing tools that are addressed in the project.

Thus, the consortium is articulated around a common objective, establishing a framework formed by the entire value chain, from the materials (inks) to the future users of the technology.

In addition, the synergies generated during the execution of common activities will allow companies to move faster in the implementation of the results.

The TRANSLIGHT project has a duration of 36 months starting on January 1, 2018 and ending on December 31, 2020 with a budget of 494,046 euros co-financed by CDTI and FEDER

Polarys: Maritime emergency and safety

The project aims to develop an open platform for remote control systems and management of irrigation zones (STG) through the application of new communication technologies, interoperable protocols and low production costs for the comprehensive and efficient management of water  and energy in agricultural environments.

IoT @ AS is a collaborative project between OdinS, EGATEL, ISOTRON, TRAGSA and INTEGRASYS that unite to highlight their experience in engineering applied to irrigation systems and satellite communications and develop an innovative solution that solves the existing problems of interoperability, efficiency and connectivity providing the opening to new markets both nationally and internationally.

The project will be developed in 3 target areas of the INNTERCONECTA program such as Andalucía, Galicia, Murcia, fully aligned with the “Smart Growth Operating Program 2014-2020” embedded in the RIS3 of each community, mobilizing SMEs, industry, research centers, associations of users and public administrations.

EFECTO: Solar flux measurement system

The expected result of the project is the development of an advanced on-line concentrated solar flow measurement system for solar thermal power plants with central receiver or tower technology.

Design, development and manufacture of a monitoring system based on optical sensors, both infrared vision and the visible spectrum.

This new system will be developed for the precise and robust measurement of solar radiation concentrated in the conditions demanded by commercial plants, by optical detectors of high performance and with technical-economic and environmental advantages over the measurement systems in the current market.

This technological development will provide COBRA with a significant competitive advantage in the solar thermal sector, by increasing not only the durability of the key components of the solar thermal plants (solar receptors) but also their efficiency, which will ultimately reduce the final price of energy and will have a positive effect on the competitiveness of the company internationally.

The MESUREX and EGATEL companies will also benefit from this competitive advantage as key suppliers of the developed product and the technological centers involved: the National Center for Renewable Energies (CENER), the IMDEA Energy Institute and the Industrial and Industrial Cooperation Association of Andalusia (AICIA).

SINDA: Indoor Security System with 3D Vision

SINDA addresses a new indoor security system model development by using autonomous drones based on 3D Vision. The new surveillance model proposed by SINDA is a home automation and video surveillance traditional services evolution in which video circuits are used for the control of buildings. The main difference introduced by SINDA is a surveillance drone with the ability to conduct rounds of surveillance inside buildings where it records and transmits real time video.

SILVA: UAV-Based Multiespectral Imaging System

SILVA addresses the development of a new multispectral vision system embarked on UAVs with embbeded processing for remote detection and control of pests and diseases in forests. The proposed system will address the comprehensive and in vivo measurement of different parameters related to the health of forests. Thus, it poses the development of a new technology with performance and scope not currently offered by any commercial solution on the market.

The purpose of SIMOVI’s project is the creation of a technological platform for monitoring vineyards with the aim of improving the wine process management, optimizing crop quality control and its impact on the subsequent winemaking process. The proposed solution is based on using video cameras equipped with a multispectral vision system and embedded processing.

The main objective of this project is to develop a comprehensive system for the detection and fire-extinguishing by using unmanned aircrafts (RPAs – Remotely Piloted Aircrafts). The aircrafts are controlled by an advanced communication system that automatically performs the whole process.
Egatel plays a major role in the project, as it is the company responsible for the communications of the air-ground segment. The communications modules will be developed following a design policy focused on reliability and availability, both necessary conditions for controlling this type of vehicles.

This project aims at improving all the processes that take place in a surgery room, facilitating the physicians work while speeding up all their tasks.
Such ambitious objective wiil be reached by developing an expert system consisting in a mix of HW-SW modules. The HW will gatther all the data flow coming from multiple electronic devices installed in surgery rooms and will be subsequent stored in a database. The SW module will make use of historycal records and real-time information gathered by the Hardware to produce highly reliable predictions and reports. As a result, the surgeons will count with much more information thn now at the time of taking critical decisions.
The equipment will be designed and manufactured according to international regulations on technical and quality specifications for surgery rooms.

This project aims at increasing the coverage of AIS service (Automatic Identification System) with the intention that larger number of boats can benefit from the system and extend its use. Thus, it will optimize the management of maritime traffic and increase the safety of the crews.
In addition to Egatel, the project involves the following partners: Telecommunications operator (RETEVISIÓN), a company specializing in developing products for the maritime sector (SCIO) and a Technology Centre (GRADIANT).

Development of an Interactive TV platform to provide the users of the Public/Private Health Service with in-home medical applications. Cronicle patients can use their TVs or mobiles devices to access a wide range of applications: consulting their personal health record, request a video conference with the specialist, get pieces of advice, reminders…
The management of the confidencial data of the patientes and the security of the communications are critical aspects that are being also addressed within the development of the platform.
The companies involved in the project are: R, 2Mares, Aldaba, Bahia Software, Egatel, Telecon, Hospital Modelo, Milegroup, RNASA-IMEDIR and Citius and Gradiant Technology Centres.
