The ‘smart LNB’ is a cutting-edge interactive satellite terminal equipped with a set of technological innovations allowing a considerably increase of the return link efficiency over the state of the art. As a result, the terminal is shaking up the SatCom market by opening the door to a wide range of satellite TV connected services and Machine to Machine (M2M) applications via satellite at a much lower cost than currently marketed.
Egatel has developed ‘smart LNB’ in collaboration with Eutelsat, one of the leading satellite operators and a key provider of Broadcast and Broadband services.
The jury highlighted the innovative technology implemented in the ‘smart LNB’ device, which allows to efficiently exploiting the available bandwidth in the return link to the satellite, resulting in a drastic cost service reduction for the final user. The jury also took into account the wide range of services that ‘Smart LNB’ addresses, extending from consumer market to professional and industrial applications.
Francisco Javier Valdés, Business Development Manager from the R&D Department, accepted the award on behalf of Egatel during the gala dinner. The event, held at Gran Hotel de A Toxa in O Grove (Pontevedra) on September 30th, was also attended by Javier Taibo, CEO of Egatel, and culminated with the traditional ‘family photo’ with politicians and the representatives of Galician companies within the Galician ICT sector.
The long-time experience of Egatel in the Digital and Radiofrequency world coming from the design and manufacturing of Digital TV transmitters, has been reinforced by this recognition that rewards innovation in the Galicia’s technological fabric. According the INEO award jury, the ‘smart LNB’ contributes to homes and companies digital transformation, key factor for promoting the dissemination of knowledge and economic growth in the coming years.
