Egatel has been awarded an important contract with the European Space Agency (ESA) for the development of a novel fully electronic beam-steering flat panel satellite antenna in K/Ka band, with tracking capabilities and no moving parts, and designed for broadband applications. It is a disruptive product that aims at overcoming the constraints of the current commercial solutions (such as weight, size or cost), and transform the Satcom On the Move market.
The project, called FLATTER: Electronic Beam–Steering K-Ka-Band Flat Panel Satellite Antennas for Broadband Applications, is part of ESA’s ARTES Competitiveness & Growth program, and the development is framed in a Technology Phase. The contract value amounts to 658,797 euros and has a duration of 20 months.
